Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve compiled these FAQs to provide answers to some of the most commonly asked questions from prospective students and families. If you have any other questions, please contact us for more information.
Does WLS offer transportation?
No, transportation is not currently offered.
How do I apply for tuition assistance?
The majority of students receive tuition assistance through various opportunities. Visit our Tuition & Financial Aid page for application instructions for donor-funded financial aid, MPCP, WPCP, SNSP, and tax deductions.
When is the best time of year to apply?
Applications open in November each year, with the majority of families applying in January or February. It is encouraged to apply early so that we can remind you of enrollment deadlines (such as financial aid) and upcoming events (such as open house).
What can we expect at an Admissions visit?
During an Admissions Visit, you will tour the campus, observe the school culture, and meet teachers and staff. This visit provides an opportunity to see classrooms and other facilities while gaining insight into academic programs and student life. You’ll have the chance to ask questions, discuss your family’s educational goals, and determine if Wauwatosa Lutheran is the best fit for your student. Additionally, the admissions process, including important deadlines and required documentation, will be explained to help you make an informed decision.
What is the student dress code?
Students are asked to adhere to the dress code principles, in the student and parent handbook, which can be found on our Parent Page.
In short, students should dress appropriately with modesty and restraint.
Do I have to be Lutheran to attend?
Not at all! While our teachings are rooted in the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), many of our students and families come from a wide variety of Christian backgrounds, and some have little or no church affiliation at all. Everyone is welcome here, and we love the opportunity to share our faith while building a community that values respect, learning, and growth together.
School Accountability
The State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction requires our School Association to have two meetings per school year at which members of the governing body of the school will be present and at which all pupils and parents or guardians of all pupils applying to attend the school or attending the school may meet and communicate with Board members. Please check with your choice administrator when the dates occur this year. All students and parents or guardians are invited to attend.
We are new to the choice program and do not yet have a DPI School Report Card. When we do, we will link it here! In the meantime, here is a link to all your educational options. Please feel free to contact our school office with any questions.
